1) Project manager, restoration projects

An opportunity to work on enhancing green cover – one of the most important issues today -- and also an opportunity to boost living standards of impoverished villagers. This job offers the chance to work with a well-established conservation NGO and to interact with some of India’s most dedicated conservationists.

JOB DESCRIPTION:  The successful candidate will initially work on the Foundation’s “Participatory Eco-Restoration Project” in Akola, Maharashtra. He/She will be responsible for implementing programmes which seek to enhance green cover, watershed development, moisture conservation and community development. The initial job contract will be for one year and may be extended, depending on performance.

EMOLUMENTS/FACILITIES:  A consolidated honorarium of Rs. 10,000 per month. Local conveyance and expenses on field trips will be paid as per actuals for official work.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Post Graduate or Graduate in Environment Science/Agricultural Science/ Life Sciences/ Social Sciences/ Related subject from the institutes like WII, Deharadun, IIFM, Bhopal, etc. (Educational qualification is relaxable for deserving candidates)

  • The upper age limit is 35 years.

  • Must possess a valid two-wheeler driving license.

  • Should have keen interest in Nature and Wildlife.

  • Should possess fair communication skills in English.

2) KANHA - Conservation Officer(CO)-01
Satpuda Foundation is looking for a dynamic and innovative Conservation Officer to initiate and sustain participatory conservation programmes among the villages situated in the Kanha- Bandhavgarh wildlife corridor.

The job offers the opportunity to work near two of India's most famous and well-frequented Tiger Reserves. It also gives the successful candidate the chance to be associated with Satpuda Foundation, one of the most respected names in wildlife conservation in India, and with its team of highly-dedicated members, which includes winners of domestic and international conservation awards.

JOB DESCRIPTION : The selected candidate will be required to work mainly in the villages in the Kanha - Bandhavgarh wildlife corridor in Madhya Pradesh. The Conservation Officer will be assisted by two field assistants, one each at Kanha and Bandhavgarh, who will collect information from the villages and assist the CO in implementing conservation plans. Conservation Officer will be responsible for monitoring and executing community conservation programmes and wildlife conservation activities.

CO will have to establish and maintain contact with the respective district administrations and organize community meetings, workshops of teachers, media persons, politicians and administrators to frame policies and implement the corridor protection programmes.

EMOLUMENTS/FACILITIES: CO will be provided accommodation at the Foundation's field stations where available. A motor-cycle will be provided for field work. The duration of the assignment is one year, with a provision for two years' extension. A honorarium of Rs. 6000/- to Rs.8000/month will be paid as per experience and knowledge. The Foundation will also reimburse expenses on official communications and field trips as per actuals incurred..

REQUIREMENTS: Candidates need to have the zest for outdoor work, the ability and patience to communicate with villagers, teachers, media persons, politicians and administrators. Candidates need also to think out of the box and come up with innovative ideas on conservation. While 2 major Tiger Reserves lie in the area of operations, candidates should remember that the bulk of the work will be outside these Reserves and will involve many stakeholders.

3) TADOBA - Conservation Officer (CO) - 01
This job offers an opportunity to work in a Tiger Reserve where wildlife sightings are fairly common and which yet offers plenty of challenges to conservationists. It is a chance to get involved at the grassroots level in the movement to save our national animal and a chance to work with an organization which is widely respected in this field.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Conservation Officer will have to operate from a field station at Moharli and start community conservation work. He/She will be responsible for implementing community conservation activities in the villages around TATR. CO will be responsible for executing wildlife conservation and community conservation programmes.  

EMOLUMENTS/FACILITIES:
A motor-cycle will be provided for field work. The duration of the assignment is one year, with a provision for a further two years' extension. An honorarium of Rs. 6000/- to Rs.8000/month will be paid as per experience and knowledge. Accommodation will be at the Field Station.  

REQUIREMENTS:
Post graduate in any discipline, preferably in Biology. Upper age is 26 years but this can be relaxed for exceptional candidates. 4) Employment Officer - 01

An opportunity to work on one of the most pressing issues in rural India – unemployment. The job also offers an opportunity to work in as many as 5 Tiger Reserves across central India in one of the major tiger belts of the world.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The selected candidate will have to mainly operate in five Tiger Reserves of central India , namely Melghat, Pench, Priyadarshini Pench (Seoni), Satpura and Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserves. The basic responsibility is to create a database of unemployed tribal youth from these tiger reserves, formulate site-specific training programmes, arrange training workshops for unemployed youths and support them after training and monitor their progress. The Employment Officer will be supported by one community activist in each of these Tiger Reserves who will collect information on unemployed youths and help in arranging training workshops. The Employment Officer will have to maintain contacts with respective NGOs working in the Tiger Reserves and ensure successful execution of the project.


EMOLUMENTS/FACILITIES:
The duration of the assignment is one year and there is a provision for an extension for two more years. Travelling to Tiger Reserves will be taken care of by SF. Salary will range from Rs.8,000 to 10,000 /month, depending on the profile of the chosen candidate.

REQUIREMENTS:
 Post graduate in any discipline, preferably in Social Work. The upper age limit is 26 years but this can be relaxed for exceptional candidates. The Employment Officer should have the ability to emphathise with poverty-stricken villagers, while at the same time focusing on conservation. Stamina and energy to travel far and wide and self-motivation are pre-requisites. The successful candidate will also need the right communication skills to be in touch with government officials, placement agencies and the private and public sector.

5) NAGPUR - Education Officer (EO) - 01

JOB DESCRIPTION :
The Education Officer will be working from SF's head office at Nagpur . He/She will be responsible for implementing nature education activities in schools in Nagpur and in some of the Tiger Reserves like Pench and Tadoba. EO will be responsible for designing education modules which suit tribal and urban students, and will have to implement education programmes and design new education project proposals.

EMOLUMENTS/FACILITIES:
Candidate must have a two wheeler with a valid driving licence for travelling in the Nagpur city. The duration of the assignment is one year and you may apply for an extension next year.. A honorarium of Rs. 6000/- to Rs.8000/month will be paid as per experience and knowledge.

REQUIREMENTS:
Preferably MSc. in Environment Science or Biology. Key requirements for the job include patience and stamina to deal with children, creativity to devise and implement innovative and informal educational models. A willingness to learn and impart knowledge is also critical to this job as is the ability to build up a network among schools.
