1) Project
manager, restoration projects
An opportunity to work on enhancing green cover – one of
the most important issues today -- and also an opportunity to boost living
standards of impoverished villagers. This job offers the chance to work
with a well-established conservation NGO and to interact with some of
India’s most dedicated conservationists.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The successful candidate will initially work on the Foundation’s
“Participatory Eco-Restoration Project” in Akola, Maharashtra. He/She will
be responsible for implementing programmes which seek to enhance green
cover, watershed development, moisture conservation and community
development. The initial job contract will be for one year and may be
extended, depending on performance.
EMOLUMENTS/FACILITIES:
A consolidated honorarium of Rs. 10,000 per month. Local conveyance and
expenses on field trips will be paid as per actuals for official work.
REQUIREMENTS:

Post Graduate or Graduate in Environment
Science/Agricultural Science/ Life Sciences/ Social Sciences/ Related
subject from the institutes like WII, Deharadun, IIFM, Bhopal, etc.
(Educational qualification is relaxable for deserving candidates)

2) KANHA - Conservation Officer(CO)-01
Satpuda Foundation is looking for a dynamic and innovative Conservation
Officer to initiate and sustain participatory conservation programmes
among the villages situated in the Kanha- Bandhavgarh wildlife corridor.
The job offers the opportunity to work near two of India's most famous
and well-frequented Tiger Reserves. It also gives the successful candidate
the chance to be associated with Satpuda Foundation, one of the most
respected names in wildlife conservation in India, and with its team of
highly-dedicated members, which includes winners of domestic and
international conservation awards.
JOB DESCRIPTION : The selected candidate will be
required to work mainly in the villages in the Kanha - Bandhavgarh
wildlife corridor in Madhya Pradesh. The Conservation Officer will be
assisted by two field assistants, one each at Kanha and Bandhavgarh, who
will collect information from the villages and assist the CO in
implementing conservation plans. Conservation Officer will be responsible
for monitoring and executing community conservation programmes and
wildlife conservation activities.
CO will have to establish and maintain contact with the respective
district administrations and organize community meetings, workshops of
teachers, media persons, politicians and administrators to frame policies
and implement the corridor protection programmes.
EMOLUMENTS/FACILITIES: CO will be provided
accommodation at the Foundation's field stations where available. A
motor-cycle will be provided for field work. The duration of the
assignment is one year, with a provision for two years' extension. A
honorarium of Rs. 6000/- to Rs.8000/month will be paid as per experience
and knowledge. The Foundation will also reimburse expenses on official
communications and field trips as per actuals incurred..
REQUIREMENTS: Candidates need to have the zest for
outdoor work, the ability and patience to communicate with villagers,
teachers, media persons, politicians and administrators. Candidates need
also to think out of the box and come up with innovative ideas on
conservation. While 2 major Tiger Reserves lie in the area of operations,
candidates should remember that the bulk of the work will be outside these
Reserves and will involve many stakeholders.
